After being tricked by a con-man, Kurosaki's father committed a murder-suicide, killing his entire family and himself as an act of desperation. The only survivor, Kurosaki dropped out of high school in order to hunt down the con-man responsible, taking down any swindler he came across on the way. He became known as Kurosagi: the black swindler. A swindler that only targets other fraudsters, ruining their business by setting traps for them to fall into.
